Oppressors are not asked to change. We, the oppressed, are instead asked to become more and more tolerate and forgiving.

We are asked to have patience for justice and peace that we will not see in our lifetimes.

We are not expected to feel hate or anger, or to want or seek vengeance and retribution. We are asked to tolerate oppression. We are asked to forgive our oppressors because it makes us somehow more human. We are simultaneously asked to transcend a humanity that was never acknowledged in the first place, the very humanity they seek to tear out of us and trample upon.

Forgiveness will not save you.

Tolerance will not save you.
